Armenia’s canned food production rose to 511.6 tons in Jan-Feb

Armenia’s food processing in cans grew by 88.9% to 511.6 tons in January-February 2013, as compared to the same period of the year before, the country’s national statistical service reported.

YEREVAN, March 29. /ARKA/.  Armenia’s food processing in cans grew by 88.9% to 511.6 tons in January-February 2013, as compared to the same period of the year before, the country’s national statistical service reported.

Canned meat production was 122.3 tons in the period against 89.5 tons in January-February 2012 (36.6% increase).
According to the statistics, a total of 106.2 tons of canned vegetables were produced in the period as compared to 58.2tons in Jan-Feb 2012 (82.5% increase).

Only 76.9 tons of canned tomatoes were produced, 1.2% reduction from the same period of last year.

Canned fruits were 202.7tons in the period, a 4.5-time increase compared to Jan-Feb 2012.

Production of ketchup totalled 39.1 tons (3.3-time increase) and that of natural juices was 2,003,700 litres against 1,446,600 litres in January-February 2012 (38.5% increase). -0-
