Consumer prices in Armenia in January-August 2020 grew by 0.8% as opposed to the same time span in 2019, according to numbers, released today by the National Statistical Committee (NSC).
YEREVAN, September 25. /ARKA/. Consumer prices in Armenia in January-August 2020 grew by 0.8% as opposed to the same time span in 2019, according to numbers, released today by the National Statistical Committee (NSC).
According to it, consumer prices in August 2020 were 0.1% down from July 2020, and up 1.8% when compared to August 2019.
The prices of industrial goods in January-August 2020 increased by 1.5% compared to the same period in 2019. At the same time, in August 2020, they were up by 2% from July, and 4.4% from August 2019.
Electricity production in January-August 2020 increased by 1.9% from the year before to 5.104.8 billion kWh. In August production of electricity increased by 1.6% from July, but decreased by 6.9% from August 2019.
According to the National Statistical Committee, Armenia's GDP in the first half of 2020 decreased by 6.8% compared to the same period in 2019 to 2.539 trillion drams.
On April 29, the National Assembly of Armenia approved a revision of 2020 budget indicators, prompted by the spread of COVID-19. The budget forecast for GDP was reduced to a decline of 2%, down from the originally projected growth of 4.9%. The budget deficit was increased to 340 billion drams, or 5% of GDP, up from previous projection of 2.3%. ($1 - 485.32 drams) -0-
