Armenia's economic activity drops by 6.7 percent

Armenia's economic activity index in January-October 2020 declined by 6.7% compared to the same period in 2019, the National Statistical Committee (NSC) said today.

YEREVAN, November 25. /ARKA/. Armenia's economic activity index in January-October 2020 declined by 6.7% compared to the same period in 2019, the National Statistical Committee (NSC) said today.
According to the official data, the country's industrial output in the first ten months of 2020 amounted to approximately 1.627.800.2 trillion drams, an increase of 0.5% compared to the same period in 2019.
The construction sector recorded the largest decline of 13.3% dropping to 271.082 billion drams in January-October, but compared to October 2019, in October 2020, the sector saw 0.3% growth and 3% growth compared to September 2020.
The services sector (excluding trade) in January-October 2020 amounted to 1.413.730.9 trillion drams (a decline of 12.8% compared to the same time span in 2019), while in October 2020 compared to October 2019, it decreased by 21%.
According to statistics, the domestic trade in January-October 2020 stood at 2.276.901.7 trillion drams (a decline of 12.5% from the year ago), while compared to the previous month, the indicator decreased by 13.4%. No data on agricultural output was available.
According to the National Statistical Committee, Armenia's GDP in the third quarter of 2020 declined by 9.1% compared to the same period in 2019. At the same time, compared to the previous quarter of 2020, GDP in the third quarter grew by 38.6%. -0-
