YEREVAN, June 10. /ARKA/. Armenia has secured its food security, Economy Minister Tigran Khachatryan said on Wednesday, when speaking at the National Assembly.
According to him, today the level of food security in the country is quite high, domestic production of fruits and vegetables almost completely covers demand and part of it is exported to other countries.
He said the same is true with meat and meat products. As for poultry meat, domestic production covers only 1/4 of the demand and production of pork - 2/3 of the demand.
He said domestic production of grain is sufficient to meet only half of the demand and the other half is imported.
'However, since Armenia is a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, there are no problems in this area and it also inspires confidence that the country will not face food security problems," Khachatryan said.
The only problem, according to the minister, is logistics; however, work is already underway to resolve it. -0-
