About 18.2 million tons of various goods were transported in Armenia in  2023, 2.2 % down compared to  2022, while the number of transported passenger surged by 21% to about 192  million, according to the National Statistics Committee.

YEREVAN, February 8. /ARKA/. About 18.2 million tons of various goods were transported in Armenia in 2023, 2.2 % down compared to 2022, while the number of transported passenger surged by 21% to about 192 million, according to the National Statistics Committee.

During the period under review, over 13.4 million tons of cargo were transported by trucks, by 8.7% more than in 2022.

Over 2.1 million tons of cargo were transported by rail transport (40% drop); over1.9 million tons were transported by trunk pipeline transport (8.1% drop) and the cargo transported by air grew by 46% to about 34,000 tons.

In 2022, about 154 million passengers were transported by road transport (21% growth); 32.1 million by electric transport (14.6% growth); more than 5.4 million by air (45% growth) and 540,000 by rail (7.5% growth).

Some 4,613 road accidents were reported , up 7.1% from 2022 Some 378 people were killed in these accidents, up 18% and another 6,536 were injured (up 6.2%)

In 2023, revenues from postal and courier services amounted to about 21.2 billion drams, up 12.5% compared to 2022. ($1 – 404..26 drams) -0-
