Armenia's gross international reserves rose to $2.2 billion in December 2016 from $1.75 billion in November, growing by 23.9%, the Central Bank said.
YEREVAN, January 11. /ARKA/. Armenia's gross international reserves rose to $2.2 billion in December 2016 from $1.75 billion in November, growing by 23.9%, the Central Bank said. According to the Central Bank, in December alone Armenia’s gross international reserves increased by $447.9 million.
Armenia’s reserves in freely convertible currency amounted to $2.196.8 billion and its special drawing rights (SDR) at the IMF were worth $3.5 million.
Last time when Armenia’s international reserves stood at about $2 billion was in February 2014. In 2014, as the Armenian dram began to lose its value, the country’s international reserves slashed by 33.8% or $762.3 million to $1.489.3 billion. The reduction continued into 2015 as well.
