Armenia’s jewelry production rose by 21.8% in January-October

Armenia’s jewelry production amounted to 15.1 billion drams in January-October 2013, an increase of 21.8 percent compared with the same period of 2012, ArmStat reported.

YEREVAN, December 2. /ARKA/. Armenia’s jewelry production amounted to 15.1 billion drams in January-October 2013, an increase of 21.8 percent compared with the same period of 2012, ArmStat reported. 

In the period, local factories produced 879.6 kg of jewelry, as compared to 759.7 kg in the same period last year (15.8% increase).

Diamond production was said to have surged by 47.8% from a year before to 73,572 carats.

The exports of precious and semi-precious stones, precious metals and items totaled $155.2 million, an increase of 11.4% compared to the same period in 2012; imports were $244.2mln (67% increase). ($ 1=403.91drams). -0--
