YEREVAN, February 23. /ARKA/. Armenia’s president visited new greenhouses using Dutch modern technologies in Kotayk on Saturday.
Armenak Mkrtchyan, director-founder of Mavas Group owning the greenhouses said they will start exporting their products in March, 2015, particularly to Russia where tomato and “nazrvan” cucumber demand is about 5,000 tons per year.
Mkrtchyan said they expect a yield of 10-12,000 tons as from the next year.
The company attended the recent Prodexpo-2015 in Russia and reached a number of export agreements, Mkrtchyan said.
This year some 50 kilograms is expected to be harvested from each square meter in the greenhouses, he said.
Mkrtchyan also claimed their company is one of the first enterprises having greenhouses equipped up to the European standards.
The production was set up in 2011, and modern Dutch technologies were introduced in a year’s time.
The construction works were completed in 2014, and the greenhouses were commissioned at a nominal capacity. But foreign partners were interested in large volumes, and the contract terms should be followed strictly, Mkrtchyan said.
The head of the company also said they use all the required technologies to ensure production of ecologically pure vegetables.
Dylan Schalke, co-owner of Debets Schalke engaged in greenhouse structure supplies, said they have implemented a number of projects since the start of their cooperation with Mavas Group. Another three projects are planned, he said.
In 2011-2014 Mavas Group constructed and commissioned five greenhouses with total area of 11 hectares. Investments amounted to about 8.2 billion drams.
In 2014 the company started building additional greenhouse space of 10 hectares for increasing the capacities. Greenhouse structure imports amounted to 2.8 billion drams. Total cost of this project is 7 billion drams. The new greenhouses are expected to be commissioned in September-October 2015. ($1- 478.95 drams). –0--
