Armenia’s SCPEC to open procedures against sugar importer if it abuses its dominant position

The State Commission for Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC) of Armenia will begin administrative procedures against sugar importer if the latter is found to abuse its dominant position on the Armenian sugar market, SCPEC head Artak Shaboyan said on Thursday.

YEREVAN, March 15. /ARKA/. The State Commission for Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC) of Armenia will begin administrative procedures against sugar importer if the latter is found to abuse its dominant position on the Armenian sugar market, SCPEC head Artak Shaboyan said on Thursday.

Lusastgh- sugar company, owned by deputy Samvel Aleksanyan, holds 99% of Armenian sugar imposts market. 

“When we opened procedures against CPS, we had complaints coming from concrete private entrepreneurs, who presented evidence and facts of violations. If we get evidence of violations committed by the sugar importer- invoices, documentation and other proof-, than why not, we will file the procedures against this household subject,” Shaboyan said. 

SCPEC imposed Wednesday a 100-million-dram fine on City Petrol Group (CPS) company for an abuse of dominant position on the Armenian gasoline market. -0-
