In 2013 the unemployment rate in Armenia was 16.2 %, down 1.1 percentage points from 2012, according to the latest numbers, released today by the National Statistical Service (NSS).

YEREVAN, March 31. / ARKA /. In 2013 the unemployment rate in Armenia was 16.2 %, down 1.1 percentage points from 2012, according to the latest numbers, released today by the National Statistical Service (NSS).

The unemployment rate in urban areas was 23.4%, down from 25.5% in 2012, while in rural areas it was 6 %, up from 5.3% in 2012.

The number of economically active population last year stood at 1,388,900, of whom 1,164,300 were employed and 224,600 were jobless. The labor resources declined last year by 3.2 percent to 2,189,400 people.

Economic non- active population in 2013 stood at 800,600, down from 842,500 in 2012. -0 -
