Armenia sees good large fruits output

Hrach Berberyan, head of the Agrarian-Peasant Union of Armenia, told a news conference today that this year was quite successful in terms of large fruits crop.

YEREVAN, November 2. / ARKA /. Hrach Berberyan, head of the Agrarian-Peasant Union of Armenia, told a news conference today that this year was quite successful in terms of large fruits crop.
According to him, the output of peaches nearly doubled when compared to last year’s output while that of apricots increased by 40%, the apple crop in comparison to last year has not changed.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, as of late September, a total of 70,150 tons of apricot were gathered, up from 42,800 tons last year. According to official figures, over the last three years the share of agriculture in the GDP was 17.9%; together with canneries it accounted for 23%. -0-
