Armenia to have new regulations on building materials quality- Expert
YEREVAN, November 6. /ARKA/. New regulations on building materials quality are being currently evaluated, expert at “P.Abadjyan” responsible for certification and testing of building materials Martin Yeghiazaryan said Tuesday.

“We are discussing adopting 20 new norms, and the regulation related to concrete additives quality may be introduced next year,” Yeghiazaryan said.

The company experts said at the press conference on Tuesday that the building materials in Armenia are of no high-quality, even though they meet some standards.

“P.Abadjanyan” company director Piruza Abadjanyan said the absence of the appropriate regulations is the main cause for low-quality building materials.

“We should not be pleased with this level, as we are dealing with the human resource, which is very important for us,” she told ARKA correspondent.

According to Abadjanyan, there are just four norms in Armenia regulating the quality of cement, concrete , reinforcing steel, synthetic paints and varnishes, as well as architectural glass.

“As to the other materials, their quality is regulated by the state standards only. But parties are free to decide whether to follow these standards or not in Armenia,” Abadjanyan clarified.

According to her, new norms are required, especially those regulating macadam quality ( macadam is used for concrete production), sand and concrete. -0-
