YEREVAN, January 16. /ARKA/. Bus manufacturing is planned to be launched in Armenia.

Armenia’s government announced Wednesday on conveyance of the property in Yerevan to «MED A.KGmbH» company for a 35-year lease. 

Arman Sahakyan, who runs the department of State property management, said on Wednesday government session  the  lessee shall be obligated to invest 7 million dollars in the project over the next seven years. The leasing fees stand at 1 million drams over the next seven years (nearly 2,500 dollars). Afterwards, the rental charges will be calculated in compliance with the year-to-date procedures. 

 “Buses will be manufactured on this territory. The lessee will be granted with capital lease opportunity,” Sahakyan said. 
Sahakyan didn’t unveil what kind of buses would be manufactured by the company.

On his side, Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan reminded the program had been earlier approved by the government.

“We should continue the program to speed up bus manufacturing in Armenia this year,” he said.

Last time vehicles were produced in Soviet Armenia. Yerevan Automobile Plant, established in 1964, manufactured over 100 different vans. In the early 2000s the plant closed.

At present nearly 2100 vans and about 580 buses run through the capital. China is the main bus exporter to Armenia. Buses are also imported from Ukraine. The related talks are also held with Belarus.  -0-
