Armenia to spend 791 million drams on enumeration of goats, sheep

YEREVAN, 30 May. /ARKA/. The Armenian government introduced mandatory enumeration of goats and sheep that is supposed to work the same way as cattle enumeration, Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan revealed.
Papoyan stressed that the current lack of enumeration of goats and sheep leads to significant statistical deviation.
He said that a total of 791 million drams (roughly $2 million) is expected to be spent on enumerating around 1 million goats and sheep in Armenia, at a rough estimate.
The Armenian government approved a program for enumerating and recording cattle in 2020. It is designed to ensure strict control over important processes, such as the detection and prevention of diseases common to humans and animals, tracking the increase in livestock numbers, certification of animals and animal products, appropriate documentation, as well as the export and import of animals and animal products.
