YEREVAN, October 2. /ARКА/. During a meeting on Thursday, the Armenian government sanctioned a technical cooperation agreement with Germany.

"Armenia is keen on enhancing and fortifying collaboration with Germany across various domains of mutual interest, including political, trade and economic, scientific and educational, cultural, and others, both bilaterally and multilaterally," stated Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan.

He noted that in accordance with the protocol signed after the intergovernmental discussions held in Yerevan on November 21, 2023, along with the stipulations of the Agreement on Technical Cooperation between the governments of Armenia and Germany dated July 27, 1998, a Technical Cooperation Agreement is set to be signed.

The agreement outlines the following grant assistance:

1. Development of the private sector, primary and secondary vocational education in Armenia – up to €6.1 million

2. Sustainable energy for climate-resilient development of Armenian communities – up to €6.1 million

3. Integrated development of Armenian communities – up to €3.1 million

4. Research and specialists – up to €300,000

The Government of the Federal Republic of Germany will supply personnel and services, and if necessary, financial resources, for the execution of these four programs, which have a total value of €15.6 million. The German Government will delegate the execution of these programs to the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).
The Government of the Republic of Armenia will relieve the implementing organizations from all direct taxes arising from the conclusion and execution of the aforementioned four programs or implementation agreements, and, if necessary, financial agreements. It will also exempt goods imported on behalf of the German Government, including equipment and vehicles, from all types of import and export duties, port and warehouse charges, and all other governmental fees.-0-
