YEREVAN, October 2. /ARКА/. The Armenian government will persist with its initiative to promote greenhouse development, reducing the subsidy rate by 2%. This announcement was made by Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan.

"The initiative will take effect on January 1, 2026. It will provide subsidies for loans up to 3 billion drams at a rate of 8%, loans ranging from 3 billion to 9 billion drams at 7%, and loans between 9 billion and 15 billion drams at 6%. Additionally, the program includes a 12-month grace period for both interest and principal repayments. The duration for loan repayment is set at 8 years," Papoyan stated.

He mentioned that Armenia currently possesses 1,500 hectares of greenhouses, with over 300 hectares utilizing modern technologies. Almost all agricultural products exported from Armenia are cultivated in greenhouses.

By September, 121,800 tons of agricultural products (including vegetables, fruits, and flowers) had been exported this year, marking a 12% increase compared to the previous year.

"The initiative was sanctioned by the Armenian government in July 2023. It aimed to develop 35 hectares of greenhouses employing modern technologies. Presently, there are applications for 60 hectares, with 15 hectares expected to be fully developed by the year's end," Papoyan recalled. Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan also emphasized that the program should be reassessed to diversify export markets. He suggested enhancing product certification processes to prevent the loss of perishable goods during export.-0-
