Armenian Parliament adopted in the first reading a bill on fines for traveling on Yerevan public transport without paying or using someone else's ticket

YEREVAN, July 2. /ARKA/. The National Assembly of Armenia at an extraordinary session on Wednesday adopted in the first reading a bill on imposing fines for riding Yerevan public transport without paying or using someone else's discounted ticket.
In particular, amendments were made to the Armenian Law "On Automobile Transport".
62 deputies voted for the amendments, 27 voted against. There were no abstentions.
As previously stated by the Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia Armen Simonyan, if a citizen refuses to pay and does not want to undergo identification, he may be subject to administrative detention within the framework of the procedures established by law and bear administrative liability.
According to the draft law, it is proposed to establish fines in the amount of 3, 10 and 15 thousand drams for various violations.
Thus, a fine of 3 thousand drams is provided for non-validation of a ticket or carrier upon boarding transport, 10 thousand drams - for using transport without paying for travel, 15 thousand drams - for using someone else's discounted ticket.
If there was a technical failure and the carrier was unable to validate the travel carrier, in this case, administrative liability will not be applied.
