Armenian Prime Minister Commits to a Highly Active Economic Year

YEREVAN, January 1. /ARКА/. The year 2026 is expected to be exceptionally active in terms of economic and investment opportunities, stated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during his New Year's address to the nation.

He attributed this optimism to the initiation of the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" project, which aims to facilitate the unblocking of the Republic of Armenia.

"We will usher in the New Year with significant economic growth. Together with you, we will achieve the objective set during the 2021 elections—to secure an average annual economic growth of 7%. Since the People's Non-Violent Velvet Revolution of 2018, the economy of the Republic of Armenia has expanded by over 50%. In 2025, tax revenues from the state budget are projected to be 30% higher than the total state budget revenue of 2017," Pashinyan remarked.

He credited this progress to the diligent workers in Armenia who pay legally mandated taxes as well as to citizens who remember to issue or request a cash receipt.

"I extend my gratitude to all of you. You are the foundation upon which our Motherland stands. Thanks to the efforts of those working in the Republic of Armenia, fulfilling their tax obligations, and issuing and requesting cash receipts, the Universal Health Insurance System will commence operations, with the state budget covering costs for individuals under 18 and pensioners over 65," Pashinyan noted.

He expressed his belief that the living standards of pensioners will see a significant improvement, as it is evident that their most substantial and critical expenses are related to healthcare, and now these costs will be considerably and noticeably reduced.

"The cashback percentage for cashless purchases made by pensioners will rise to 20%, and the same increase will apply to recipients of social benefits," Pashinyan concluded.-0-
