Armenian consumer prices in April, 2021 up 6.2% year-on-year

YEREVAN, May 7. /ARKA/. Armenia's consumer prices in April 2021 were up 6.2% compared to April 2020, and up 1.3% compared to March 2021, the National Statistical Committee (NSC) said today.
According to it, in the first four months of 2021 consumer prices were up 5.4% compared to the same time span of 2020.
in April 2021, compared to April 2020, prices for food products and soft drinks grew by 8.3%, and compared to March of this year - by 2.6%.
Alcohol and tobacco products in April 2021 rose by 8.8% year-on-year and by 1.1% from March 2021. Prices for clothing and footwear in April 2021 were up 3.2% from April 2020 and 1.5% from March, 2021. Utilities grew by 1.6% and 0.2% respectively.
Household goods and appliances in April 2021 rose by 9.6% from April 2020 and by 1% from March 2021.
Healthcare prices grew by 6.5% and 0.2% respectively. Transportation prices rose by 10.7% compared to April 2020 and by 0.2% compared to March 2021.
Communications prices grew by 1% from April 2020, those of recreation and entertainment by 2.8% and 1% respectively. Education prices grew by 2.1% from April 2020 and restaurant and hotel prices grew by 3% and 0.8% respectively.
According to the official statistics, prices for non-food products in April 2021 compared to April last year increased by 8.5%, and compared to March 2021 - by 0.7%. Prices for services in April 2021 were up 2.4% and 0.1% respectively.
The government's economic growth projection for 2021 is 3.2%, while inflation is set at 4% (± 1.5%). The Central Bank's GDP growth forecast is 1.4%. -0-
