Armenian deputy prime minister and IFC regional manager discuss cooperation issues

Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan received April 23 Jan van Bilsen, IFC Regional Manager for South Caucasus, the government’s press service reported.
YEREVAN, April 24 /ARKA/. Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan received April 23 Jan van Bilsen, IFC Regional Manager for South Caucasus, the government’s press service reported. It said Sylvie Bossoutrot, World Bank Country Manager for Armenia, also attended the meeting.
The interlocutors were said to have touched upon the results of Grigoryan’s recent visit to the United States to participate in the spring meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. Then they looked into the status of the programs implemented by the IFC in Armenia.
Grigoryan stressed the participation of the IFC in numerous reforms initiated by the government, including the development of the capital market and increase in publicity of business activities. As a priority area of cooperation with Armenia, the regional manager of the IFC highlighted finance, energy, health and tourism sectors.
The interlocutors attached importance to the development of digitalization in the financial sector and a reduction in cash turnover, which will also contribute to improving the business climate.
On the health sector, the parties emphasized the importance of disease prevention. Grigoryan and Van Bilsen exchanged also views on the existing conditions for the development of tourism, as well as on the possibilities of implementing regional programs in this field. -0-
