Armenian economy grew last year by 6.7 percent

Armenia’s economy in 2017 grew by 6.7 percent, up from the government-projected 3.2 percent, the finance ministry said.

YEREVAN, January 19. /ARKA/. Armenia’s economy in 2017 grew by 6.7 percent, up from the government-projected 3.2 percent, the finance ministry said.  According to a government’s press release,  the GDP deflator index in 2017 was 1.5% and the per capita GDP was almost $3,800.

According to the finance ministry, the higher than forecasted economic growth was driven by services, construction and net taxes.

As for foreign trade, according to the estimates of the ministry of finance,  exports grew by 23.5%, as opposed to 2016, and imports grew by  28%.

The ministry of finance also expects the amount of remittances to grow by 13.4%. At the same time, the current account deficit is expected to make 4% of GDP, approaching its long-term balanced level.--0-
