YEREVAN, June 13. /ARKA/. Armenia’s trade turnover with Estonia in 2016 was to the tune of $10 million, but it has a huge untapped potential, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said at a briefing with his Estonian counterpart Sven Mikser on Tuesday in Yerevan.
He said the sides signed today another agreement on readmission and seven more are being prepared for signing. Overall, Armenia and Estonia have signed so far 15 bilateral agreements.
Nalbandian noted that the parties also discussed the possibility of stepping up inter-parliamentary relations, stimulating decentralized cooperation, as well as trade and economic cooperation. He added that the sides agreed also to intensify cooperation within international organizations and hold consultations between foreign ministries.
The two men also discussed a number of regional issues, including the fight against terrorism, the situation in the Middle East, and the Karabakh conflict peace process.
In his turn, Sven Mikser noted that both countries focus on information and communication technologies, especially their use in the context of providing government services.
"I should proudly say that Estonia has a lot of experience in this area, and our specialists have worked with Armenian colleagues to implement certain solutions, we have much in common, and it is possible to reach new heights by stimulating cooperation," said Mikser.
He also pointed to good cooperation in the field of education - this year Estonia will host 20 students from Armenia, and there are good contacts between diplomatic schools.
"There are other directions - in the spheres of economy and business, where we can do more than has been done to this day," said Mikser. -0-
