Armenian 12-month food prices up 12%
YEREVAN, May 4. /ARKA/. Prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages in Armenia rose in April 2022 by 14.3% compared to April 2021, and by 4% compared to March 2022, according to the numbers, released by the National Statistical Committee.
Bread and cereals rose in price by 15.7%, while flour and pasta rose by 14.3% and 26.5% year-on-year. At the same time, prices for spelt, rice, lentils and buckwheat rose by 19.8%, 17.7%, 34.3% and 46.3%, respectively.
Meat price in April rose by 10.2% from 2021 April, while poultry, lamb and beef rose in price by 8.4%, 5.3%, and 10.6%, respectively.
The 12-month prices for fish and seafood increased by 22.4%, prices for fresh milk, cheese, sour cream and matsoon (yogurt) rose by 12%, 21.2%, 14% and 23%, respectively, while pork price surged by 20.1%. Prices for cooking oils and fats rose by 6.1%. Fruit prices fell by 3.2% and vegetable prices soared by 48.8%.
The prices of sugar, fruit puree, honey, syrups and chocolate increased by 1.6% Coffee, tea and cocoa in April this year compared to last April went up by 11.9%. Prices of mineral and bottled drinking water in April rose by 7.3%. Vodka prices were up 9.9%, wine was up 0.1%, beer 8.1% and tobacco was up 7.7%.
According to the statistical data, prices for non-food products in April 2022 increased by 6.1% compared to April last year.
Overall, the consumer price index in Armenia rose 8.4% in April 2022 compared to April 2021 -0-
