Armenian GDP expands 4.6% in 2011: economy minister

According to preliminary estimates, Armenian economy expanded last year by 4.6%, as much as projected by the government, economy minister Tigran Davtyan said last Saturday speaking at the 9-th international economic forum Bridge in the resort town of Tsakhakdzor.

YEREVAN, February 6, / ARKA /. According to preliminary estimates, Armenian economy expanded last year by 4.6%, as much as projected by the government, economy minister Tigran Davtyan said last Saturday speaking at the 9-th international economic forum Bridge in the resort town of Tsakhakdzor.
He said the industrial output grew last year by 14.1%, an unprecedented rate over the last 20 years, equal in terms of money to about one trillion drams.
Davtyan noted with satisfaction that the economic development was getting more balanced while the real economy, including agriculture, manufacturing, services were becoming the main driving force of the economy.
He singled out also the 29% exports growth last year, saying the numbers are a good indicator for any country, especially given the fact that the growth was secured by industrial production.
He said the share of industrial output in the overall GDP has risen from 14% to 25%," adding that this dynamics is very encouraging, and this trend should be maintained in the future. -0-
