Armenian government approves €102m healthcare loan agreement with IBRD
YEREVAN, July 18. /ARKA/. The Armenian government approved a loan agreement with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) to implement a nationwide healthcare services program valued at €102 million.
Deputy Minister of Healthcare Lena Nanushyan stated that the loan program aims to assist the Healthcare Ministry in establishing universal health insurance, improving the quality of medical care, enhancing healthcare spending efficiency, and reducing financial barriers to accessing medical services.
"The loan program is results-based, with disbursements made according to pre-agreed indicators and directions," Nanushyan revealed.
She mentioned that the preparatory work, which lasted nearly a year, was carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and the World Bank.
"The project aligns with the Government Program for 2021-2026 and the Healthcare System Development Strategy for 2023-2026. The loan program was agreed upon with the IBRD representatives during the negotiations on May 21. The program is scheduled for completion on September 20, 2029," she added.
