Armenian government approves pilot program for beer labeling
YEREVAN, August 1. /ARKA/. The Armenian government approved a pilot program for labeling beer during its session on Thursday.
According to the government decree, beer has been subject to mandatory labeling in Armenia since 2013. To meet this requirement, it is deemed necessary to introduce a system of labeling beer with control marks. The corresponding pilot program must be implemented before the system's full-scale introduction.
The primary goal of the program is to obtain an accurate and realistic picture of the circulation of goods in the market through an electronic tracking system.
The labeling of products will be done using a special DataMatrix code. This digital marking code is tamper-proof and unique for each product unit. The codes will be provided to producers and importers in digital form by the National Operator.
As part of the project, a mobile application will be developed to allow consumers to easily verify the legality of a product's origin, obtain all necessary information, and facilitate public control over the quality of previously produced goods.
