YEREVAN, November 8. / ARKA /. The Armenian government on Thursday extended the deadline for about 60,000 trade outlets across the country for mandatory instalment of new cash registers.

Earlier the government said the traders would have to install new cash registered beginning from January 1, 2013. According to Vakhtang Mirumyan, deputy chief of the State Revenue Committee (SRC), the new deadline for companies with annual turnover over 500 million drams is July 1, 2013. The deadline for smaller companies is January 2015. He said the prime minister ordered to set up a non-commercial organization "Office for Instalment of Cash Registers’ that will handle and oversee the process.

As previously stated by the head of SRC, Gagik Khachatryan, the new cash registers will help improve tax administration and on the other hand, provide customers with additional services, related in particular to implementation of non-cash payments.

The new cash registers must have at least 128 megabytes abrasion-resistant operative memory device, a slot for memory card to get connected to the information system of the tax authorities in 3-G and GPRS Internet via a SIM card, ability to make software changes and integration of new modules to conduct operations with plastic cards.

The present cash desks were installed in Armenia in 2005. A set of studies conducted by the SRC, revealed that some entrepreneurs change the software to underestimate the amount of their earnings. -0-
