Armenian National Statistical Service releases conflicting data on GDP growth - newspaper
YEREVAN, March 2. /ARKA/. Per-capita GDP growth in Armenia dropped 2.6% in 2015, compared with the previous year – in 2014 it stood at $3,610 and in 2015 at $3,515, Hayakakan Zhamanak reports.

According to the newspaper, this is the official figures released by the National Statistical Service and they are remarkable for their apparent contradiction to the three-percent economic growth reported in 2015 by the same National Statistical Service it means the country's GDP grew and reduced at the same time.

Authors of the publication noted that this is due to changes in foreign exchange rates.

«But if it is necessary to sort through economic indicators of Zimbabwe, Gabon, Japan or Canada, for example, as a rule, indicators in dollars are taken,» they say. «And therefore it can be said for sure that Armenia had a 2.6% economic decline, not a 3% growth last year.»

According to the National Statistical Service's preliminary reports, Armenia enjoyed a 3% economic growth in 2015 against the 4.1% projected in the government budget, GDP amounted to AMD 5 047.4 billion or about $10.56 billion (exchange rate averaged $1 – AMD 477.92 in 2015). ---0----
