Armenian prime minister to take part in Davos forum

Armenia’s prime minister Karen Karapetyan will take part in the World Economic Forum held annually in Swiss Davos, Aram Araratyan, a spokesman for the prime minister, told ARKA news agency.

YEREVAN, January 12. /ARKA/. Armenia’s prime minister Karen Karapetyan will take part in the World Economic Forum held annually in Swiss Davos, Aram Araratyan, a spokesman for the prime minister, told ARKA news agency. This year’s gathering is slated for January 23- 26.
The spokesman said the prime minister had earlier announced that he would take part in the Davos forum. He added that an official announcement will be made next week after the date of Karapetyan’s visit is specified. Araratyan stressed that Karapetyan was sent an invitation to take part in the forum. In recent years, Armenia has not participated in the Davos forums.
The World Economic Forum (WEF) is a Swiss non-governmental organization, best known for organizing annual meetings in Davos. Leading business and political leaders, prominent thinkers and journalists are invited to the meetings to discuss the most acute world problems, including health and environmental protection.
The forum was created in 1971. Now its members are about 1000 large companies and organizations from different countries of the world, including Russia. The permanent executive body is the Board of Directors. The headquarters are located in the suburbs of Geneva. The budget is made of annual membership fees. -0-
