Armenian regulator raises prices for electricity produced from renewable resources
YEREVAN, November 26. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) raised the prices for electricity produced from renewable energy resources at its Wednesday’s meeting.

These prices are revised every year before December 1 and come into effect as from January 1 next year.

Prices for electricity generated by small hydro power plants are increased by 0.5%, prices for windmill energy rose by 2.7% compared to last year, head of tariff policies at the commission Garegin Baghramyan told ARKA.

According to PSRC’s decision, electricity produced by small hydro power plants using natural stream-flow will cost 21.168 drams per kWhour. Price for energy generated at hydropower plants using irrigation systems is set at 14.110 drams, that for energy generated from drinking stream-flow is 9.408 drams per kWhour, price for electricity generated at windmills is 38,005 drams per kWhour.

The new tariff for energy generated from biomass is 40.452 drams per kWhour.

The decision comes into effect on January 1, 2015.

Representatives of small hydro power plants said at the PSRC’s meeting they are unhappy with the negligible increase having in mind the recent sharp devaluation of the national currency. A proposal was made to again revise the tariffs in a half a year, based on the actual situation and inflation levels. ($1- 433.68 drams). –0--
