YEREVAN, October 12. /ARKA/. The Armenian-Russian trade in the first seven months of 2020 did not change compared to the same period last year, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Monday during a press briefing with visiting Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan.

Lavrov recalled a 25% trade growth between the countries in 2019 reaching $2.5 billion. He said despite the overall global economic recession, caused, among other things, by the coronavirus pandemic, Armenian-Russian trade this year has not been affected.

He said an agreement was reached during today's meeting with Mnatsakanyan on providing assistance by the foreign ministries to the holding of events that contribute to further growth of trade, economic and interregional cooperation between the two countries.

“First of all, I mean the 20th meeting of the Russian-Armenian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, which is to be held  in Yerevan after the removal of anti-coronavirus restrictions, and as soon as the situation allows us, we will hold the 8th Russian-Armenian interregional forum with participation of delegations from several dozen regions of Russia and Armenia,” Lavrov said.

According to the latest statistics, Armenia's foreign trade in the first half of 2020 stood at about $3.739 billion, which is 11.3% less than in the same period of 2019.

The trade turnover between Armenia and the Eurasian Economic Union in the first half of 2020 amounted to about $1.273 billion. Russia accounted for about $1.130 billion of that figure, while Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan accounted for about $47.9 million - 0--
