YEREVAN, November 5. /ARKA/. Armenian wine and brandy may appear in three large hotel chains of the world, Robert Harutyunyan, the director of the Armenian Development Agency, said on Tuesday. In his world, the arrangement was made after Armenian wine and brandy tasting in Strasbourg.

“Armenian wine and especially brandy sparked much interest in Strasbourg, and we are negotiating now with three large hotels,” he said.

Many varieties of Armenian wine, brandy and sweets made of grapes were tasted in the Council of Europe Ministerial Committee’s building in Strasbourg on October 29 and in the Commerce and Industry Chamber on October 30.

The testing was organized by the Armenian Development Agency jointly with the Armenia’s permanent delegation in the Council of Europe.

Harutyunyan said that Armenian wine and brandy got high marks from visitors, beverage managers and journalists.

“We were pleased with the fact that French visitors were familiar with Armenian brandy and that some of them said that it outdoes French cognac on various criteria,” he said adding that even French tasters called our drink cognac, not brandy.

Stressing the importance of such events, Harutyunyan said that they make Armenian products recognizable at world markets.  He said products of 11 companies were presented in Strasbourg. Many of them were rated highly by professionals.

According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, Armenia’s brandy output grew 3.6% in Jan-Aug 2013, compared with the same period a year before, to 11,151,200 liters, and wine output grew 32.8% to 3,449,600 liters. .---0----
