A possible membership of Azerbaijan in the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) does not make it a member country of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), composed of Armenia, Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, Dmitry Pankin, Eurasian Development Bank Board Management Chairman said at a briefing at the XII Eurasian Integration conference, held by the bank.

MOSCOW, October 31. /ARKA/.
According to him, the Eurasian Development Bank negotiated with Azerbaijan implementation of possible joint projects, primarily in transport sector.
"I do not see anything terrible if both Armenia and Azerbaijan participate in the same financial institution. Both counties are already members of the Black Sea Trade Development bank (BSTDB). We need to seek common ground," he said.
He reiterated that a country's membership in the Eurasian Development Bank is not identical to its membership in the Eurasian Economic Union. "For example, Tajikistan is a member of the Eurasian Development Bank, but not a member of the Eurasian Economic Union," he added.
The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) is an international financial organization established by Russia and Kazakhstan in January 2006 to promote the development of the market economy of the participating countries, their sustainable economic growth and the expansion of mutual trade and economic relations. The authorized capital of EDB is 7 billion US dollars. The member states are Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan. -0-
