Birth rate in Armenia decreased by 7.3% in January-April

YEREVAN, June 5. /ARKA/. In Armenia, the birth rate decreased by 7.3% in January-April 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. This is evidenced by the data published by the National Statistical Committee of Armenia. The decline in the birth rate has been recorded in Armenia since January of last year.
It is noted that 9,729 babies were born during the reporting period, while in the four months of 2024 there were 10,492 newborns.
At the same time, 127 cases of stillbirths were registered during the specified period, which is 22.1% less than in the same period of 2024.
Overall, 9,175 people died in the country in January-April 2025, which is 0.6% more than the figure for the same period in 2024.
Thus, the vitality index - the ratio of the number of births to the number of deaths - in January-April of this year was 106% against 115% for the same period last year. -0-
