Business environment index in Armenia went 6.6 percentage points up in the first quarter of this year, compared with the previous quarter, to 54.8, the press office of the Central Bank of Armenia reports.

YEREVAN, April 28. /ARKA/. Business environment index in Armenia went 6.6 percentage points up in the first quarter of this year, compared with the previous quarter, to 54.8, the press office of the Central Bank of Armenia reports.

However, compared with the first quarter of 2013, the index slid 1.1 p.p.

Three of the four components of the business environment index showed increase, while one component showed decline.

The business environment index rose in the 1st Q 2015 mostly thanks to increase in construction sector by 28.9 percentage points to 64.

Trade business environment index leapt 2.1 percentage points and services 3.2 points.

Industry's business activity index slipped 1.5 percentage points over the first quarter 2015 to 53.5.

According to the central bank's press release, Armenia's business activity index stands at the ceiling of the stable range.

The business environment index is figured out by averaging organizations’ estimates on changes of economic things and risks.

The Central Bank of Armenia started conducting its quarterly surveys of financial, non-financial organizations and households in 2005 to assess economic expectations of respondents and calculate indices. ---0---
