Cargo transportation in Armenia in H1 is up 1.9%, while passenger transportation drops by 24.3%

The total cargo transportation in Armenia from January to June of 2025 amounted to over 7.5 million tons, which is a 1.9% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

YEREVAN, August 8. /ARKA/. The total cargo transportation in Armenia from January to June of 2025 amounted to over 7.5 million tons, which is a 1.9% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

Meanwhile, the total volume of passenger transportation was about 83 million people, which is a 24.3% decline. These figures were reported by the National Statistical Committee.

In the first half of this year, road transport accounted for 77% (about 5.9 million tons) of the total freight transportation volume (a 0.6% decline compared to the first half of last year).

Main pipeline transport accounted for 13.1% (989,500 tons), rail transport for 9.7% (735,900 tons), and air transport for 0.2% (18,800 tons).

In the first six months of 2025, a total of 66.3 million people were transported by road transportation, which is a 26.2% decline. Of that total, 14 million people were transported by electric transport, which is an 18.5% decline; 2.5 million people were transported by air, which is a 3.3% increase; and 235,300 people were transported by rail, which is a 10% decline.

During the same period, 2,160 road accidents were reported, which is 11.7% more than last year. In those accidents, 120 people died (a 20% decline) and 3,148 people were injured (a 14.7% increase).

In the first half of 2025, revenue from postal and courier activities amounted to 9.9 billion drams, an increase of 1.2% compared to the first half of 2024 ($1 = 383.59 drams).-0-
