Cargo transportation in Armenia increased by 1.6% in 5 months, while passenger transportation dropped by 27.7%

YEREVAN, July 11. /ARKA/. According to the National Statistical Committee, the total cargo transportation in Armenia from January to May 2025 amounted to 6,110.9 thousand tons, which is a 1.6% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Meanwhile, the total passenger transportation amounted to 64,817.0 thousand people, which is a 27.7% decline.
Freight transportation
Over the five months of the current year, road transport accounted for 4,628.9 thousand tons of total freight transportation (a 1.3% decline compared to the five months of the previous year), main pipeline transport accounted for 875.6 thousand tons (an increase of 2.8%), rail transport accounted for 590.4 thousand tons (an increase of 27.9%), and air transport accounted for 16.0 thousand tons (an increase of 8.8%).
Passenger transportation
From January to May of 2025, 51,121.1 thousand people were transported by road (a 30.3% decrease), 11,562.2 thousand by electric transport (a 18.7% decrease), 1,942.8 thousand by air (a 4% increase), and 190.9 thousand by rail (a 12% decrease).
Road accidents
From January to May of this year, 1,724 road accidents were reported, which is 12.3% more than in the same period last year.
Of those accidents, 99 people died (a 13.2% decline) and 2,511 people were injured (a 15.2% increase).
Postal and Courier Services:
From January to May of 2025, revenue from postal and courier activities in Armenia amounted to 8,265.6 million drams, which is a 0.9% increase compared to the same period in 2024 (1 USD = 383.82 AMD).-0-
