Cargo transportation in Armenia saw a rise of 1.1% during eight months

The total cargo transportation in Armenia from January to August 2025 reached 10,620,600 tons, reflecting a 1.1% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

YEREVAN, October 8. /ARKA/. The total cargo transportation in Armenia from January to August 2025 reached 10,620,600 tons, reflecting a 1.1% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

In contrast, total passenger transportation was recorded at 151,155,900 individuals, marking a decrease of 2.7%. This information was provided by the Statistical Committee.

Freight Transportation

In the first eight months of this year, the total freight transportation by road accounted for 8,330.3 thousand tons (a 0.2% decrease compared to the previous year), 1,218.2 thousand tons via main pipeline transport (a 1.8% decrease), 1,047.0 thousand tons through rail transport (a 17.4% increase), and 25.1 thousand tons by air transport (a 5% increase).

Passenger Transportation

From January to August 2025, 128,500.2 thousand passengers utilized road transport (a decrease of 0.3%), 18,524.3 thousand used electric transport (a decline of 17.7%), 3,784.3 thousand traveled by air (an increase of 4.6%), and 347.1 thousand opted for rail transport (a decrease of 9.5%).

Road Accidents

During the first eight months of this year, Armenia witnessed 3,088 road accidents, representing a 16% increase from the same period last year. A total of 178 individuals lost their lives in road accidents (a 14.8% decrease), while 4,585 individuals sustained injuries (a 19.2% increase). Postal and Courier Services

For the period of January to August 2025, the revenue generated from postal and courier services in Armenia was 13,362.5 million drams, indicating a 2.3% increase compared to January-August 2024 ($1 = 382.75 drams).-0-
