Cargo transportation in Armenia up 1.8% in 2 months, passenger transportation down 29.1%

YEREVAN, April 8. /ARKA/. The total cargo transportation in Armenia in January-February 2025 amounted to 2,215.3 thousand tons, increasing by 1.8% compared to January-February 2024, and the total passenger transportation to 23,544.1 thousand with a decline of 29.1%, according to the National Statistical Committee.
Cargo transportation
Of the the total cargo transportation some 1,499.2 thousand tons was carried out by road transport (a decline of 2.2% compared to January-February last year), 480.0 thousand tons by the main pipeline transport (up 4.6%), 230.0 thousand tons by railway transport (up 29.4%) and 6.1 thousand tons by air transport (up 15.1%).
Passenger Transportation
In January-February 2025, some 18,702.8 thousand people were transported by road transport (down 31.1%), 4,085.4 thousand people by electric transport (down 22.8%), 687.2 thousand people by air transport (up 1.5%) and 68.7 thousand people by rail transport (down 12.4%).
Road accidents
During January-February of this year 604 road accidents were reported, which is 1.9% more than in the same period of last year. Thirty-three peope died in road accidents (10.8% decrease), 859 people were injured (1.9% increase).
Postal and courier services
The revenue from postal and courier activities amounted to AMD 3,222.5 million, increasing by 1.2% in comparison with January-February 2024, ($1 - AMD 391.01) -0-.
