Cargo transportation volume in Armenia increased by 0.5% in 7 months, while passenger transportation decreased by 3.3%

In the period from January to July 2025, the total cargo transportation volume in Armenia reached 9,039.6 thousand tons, reflecting a 0.5% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

YEREVAN, September 11. /ARKA/. In the period from January to July 2025, the total cargo transportation volume in Armenia reached 9,039.6 thousand tons, reflecting a 0.5% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

Conversely, the total passenger transportation volume was recorded at 131,473.0 thousand people, marking a decrease of 3.3%. This information was provided by the National Statistical Committee.

Freight transportation

During the first seven months of the current year, road transport accounted for 7,033.3 thousand tons of the total freight transportation volume, which represents a 1.1% decrease compared to the same timeframe last year.

Main pipeline transport contributed 1,102.3 thousand tons (a 2% decline), rail transport accounted for 882.2 thousand tons (an increase of 19%), and air transport contributed 21.8 thousand tons (an increase of 9%).

Passenger transportation

In the January-July 2025 period, a total of 111,737.4 thousand people were transported by road in passenger transportation (a decline of 0.9%), 16,344.4 thousand individuals by electric transport (a decline of 17.8%), 3,104.9 thousand individuals by air transport (an increase of 4%), and 286.3 thousand individuals by rail transport (a decline of 9.5%).

Road accidents

In the first seven months of this year, Armenia recorded 2,606 road accidents, which is a 13.5% increase compared to the same period last year. A total of 143 individuals lost their lives in these accidents (a decline of 21.4%), while 3,797 individuals sustained injuries (an increase of 14.9%).

Postal and courier services

For the period of January to July 2025, the revenue generated from postal and courier services in Armenia amounted to 11,625.5 million drams, reflecting a 2% increase compared to January-July 2024 (with an exchange rate of $1 equating to 383.59 drams).-0-
