Cargo transportation volume in Armenia increased by 0.8% in 4 months, while passenger transportation decreased by 27.3%

The total volume of cargo transportation in Armenia in January-April 2025 amounted to 4,709.9 thousand tons, increasing by 0.8% compared to January-April 2024, while the total volume of passenger transportation amounted to 50,910.9 thousand people, with a decline of 27.3%. Over the 4 months of the current year, 3,455.4 thousand tons of total freight transportation was accounted for by road transport (a 2.2% decline compared to the 4 months of the previous year), 777.2 thousand tons by main pipeline transport (an increase of 3.7%), 464.6 thousand tons by rail transport (an increase of 22.7%) and 12.7 thousand tons by air transport (an increase of 5.8%).
Freight turnover for the reporting period amounted to 1,652.5 million ton-km, a decrease of 0.8% compared to the same period of the previous year. At the same time, freight turnover via main pipeline transport amounted to 1,228.1 million ton-km (a decline of 3.7%), road transport – 294.3 million ton-km (a decline of 21.3%), rail transport – 125.0 million ton-km (an increase of 20.4%), air transport – 5.1 million ton-km (an increase of 50%). In January-April 2025, 40,220.3 thousand people in total passenger transportation were transported by road (a decline of 29.7%), 9,068.1 thousand people by electric transport (a decline of 19.2%), 1,474.7 thousand people by air transport (an increase of 3%), and 147.8 thousand people by rail transport (a decline of 14%).
Passenger turnover for the four months of 2025 amounted to 1,057.6 million passenger-km, a decrease of 16.5% compared to the same period in 2024. At the same time, passenger turnover by air transport amounted to 527.8 million passenger-km (a decline of 3.4%), by road transport - 481.7 million passenger-km (a decline of 27.1%), by electric transport - 35.4 million passenger-km (a decline of 20.7%), and by rail transport - 12.7 million passenger-km (a decline of 16.4%).
Road accidents
In January-April of this year, 1,341 road accidents occurred in Armenia, which is 11% more than the same period last year.
In road accidents, 72 people died (a decline of 26.5%), 1,904 people were injured (an increase of 11.2%). Postal and courier services
