YEREVAN, April 23. / ARKA /. Clean Energy non-governmental organization said it has signed a memorandum of cooperation with SolArt company to work together to explore renewable energy potential in Armenia. According to its press release, the two sides will also work to promote liberalization and democratization of the energy sector in Armenia.
"Promoting sustainable and dynamic growth of energy enterprises is very important for Armenia. Earlier this year, we announced that we would seek to bring together leaders of the sphere and will act as a bridge between potential donors and economic entities. This policy is already producing results. SolArt Company has joined our club. SolArt is undoubtedly the leader in the field of solar energy in Armenia and is known for a number of major projects,” Clean Energy head, Vahe Davtyan, is quoted as saying.
He says Armenia has significant advantages for the development of solar energy due to the proximity to the tropical belt and also due to favorable climatic conditions.
"In our country the average annual amount of solar energy per kilometer of horizontal surface is 1,720 KWh/km, while in Europe it is only 1,000 KWh/km", he says.
SolArt director general Artin Melikyan is quoted as saying that solution of energy-related problems requires full-fledged cooperation between economic entities, exchange of information and implementation of joint projects.
"Development of alternative energy in Armenia requires a comprehensive approach in which all facilities should be viewed as links of the single chain. In this sense, the initiative of Clean Energy is welcome. We are ready to help organize and implement joint projects,” he says.
Clean Energy NGO was established in December 2012 to support development of Armenia's energy security.
SolArt deals with design and development of energy-efficient hybrid heating systems that work both on fossil fuel and solar energy. -0-
