Construction of Kaps reservoir in Armenia has started – Deputy Minister
YEREVAN, July 13. /ARKA/. The construction of the Kaps reservoir in Armenia has already started, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Vache Terteryan told MPs on Wednesday.
"The water level in Armenia's reservoirs this year turned out to be very low due to weather conditions," Terteryan added, speaking at an extraordinary session of the parliament.
The agreement on the construction of the Kaps reservoir in Shirak region was signed between the Armenian government and German bank KfW in April 2023. The budget of the project is 97.8 million euros, of which 68.5 million euros is ф KFW loan, the rest is co-financed by the Armenian government.
The reservoir’s capacity will be about 60 million cubic meters of irrigation water, enough to irrigate about 17 thousand hectares of land, replace mechanical irrigation of 2б280 hectares of land with gravity irrigation, which will save 1.3 million kWh of electricity per year. --0—
