Cyclone brings snow to Armenia, river levels to rise
YEREVAN, October 17. /ARKA/. Due to the penetration of an active cyclone from the west, heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected in most regions of the country in the afternoon of October 17 and October 18 overnight, the National Weather Center reported.
"In the mountains of Shirak, Aragatsotn, Kotayk, Vayots Dzor and Gegharqunik, sleet is expected on October 18 overnight. During the daytime on October 18, the power of the cyclone will sharply weaken, as a result of which precipitation will persist in some parts of the country and will be short-lived," the Center said.
It is noted that on October 17-19, the air temperature throughout the country will gradually decrease by approximately 6-9 degrees Celsius.
"Due to heavy precipitation on October 17-18, a significant increase in the volume of water flow in the Aghstev, Debed, Hrazdan, Kasakh, Azat and Vedi rivers and the Sevan basin is expected," the report says. -0-
