YEREVAN, September 11. / ARKA /. Speaking at the maiden session of the Armenian-Czech intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation in Yerevan today the deputy economy minister Garegin Melkonyan said the Czech Republic and Armenia have a great untapped reserve to boost their ties.

A 30-member Czech delegation of government official and private entrepreneurs has arrived in Armenia to attend the gathering. The two sides are expected to sign a protocol to fix all the decisions they will adopt.

"We have a good basis for the development of new joint programs in various fields and reach agreements in new areas of cooperation," said Melkonyan.

Deputy minister of industry and trade of the Czech Republic, Vladimir Bartl, said both countries have great potential for cooperation in the political and economic spheres.

"The Czech government is ready to intensify cooperation with Armenia, and I am confident that this meeting will mark the beginning of new projects", said Bartl.

The Armenian-Czech Commission was established earlier this year. It is co-chaired by Garegin Melkonyan and Vladimir Bartl.

The two sides are expected to discuss in Yerevan a long string of issues covering trade and economy, investment, industry, agriculture, energy, transport, health, science and education, culture and tourism sectors.

On the sidelines of the session a business forum will be held for Armenian and Czech business people from 12 companies that are in Armenia. The Armenian side is represented by entrepreneurs from 40 energy, trade and banking companies.

According to the National Statistical Service, Armenia's foreign trade turnover with the Czech Republic in January-July 2014 amounted to $9.9 million, down from $13.26 million during the same period of 2013. -0-
