YEREVAN, April 18. /ARKA/. This season’s first hail in Armenia has inflicted a slight damage to agriculture, but threat remains, Emergency Minister Felix Tsolakyan said Thursday at a regular meeting of the Cabinet ministers.
“It was the first hail in this year, and we can say we got off lightly,” he said. “But if rain continues, then hail may be on April 18 and 19.”
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan wondered if insurance mechanisms are already introduced. Agriculture Minister Gegham Gevorgyan answered that a bureau is already operating appropriate mechanisms are introduced.
Insurance companies promise to complete shaping the system in one or two months.
“We, along with our colleagues from the territorial administration ministry, have toured the hail-stricken provinces and have set damage-gauging groups,” he said. “I can say that the hail was not so strong, and the damage inflicted by it is not significant.”
Armenia’s weather forecast service says the air temperature in the country will subside to 3 degrees. Intensive rain is expected in Armenia and snow in mountainous terrains. -0---
