Decline of exports and imports in Armenia in October due to gradual cessation of re-exports - WB
YEREVAN, December 23. /АРКА/. In October, Armenia experienced a continued reduction in imports and exports due to the cessation of re-exports, according to the World Bank's review titled "Armenia Monthly Economic Update - December 2025".
"In October, exports fell by 21.8% year-on-year, following a 24.4% decrease in September. Imports also declined by 11.9%, compared to a 19.5% drop in September. This decline was primarily driven by a significant reduction in the exports (down by 45%) and imports (down by 33%) of precious and semi-precious stones and metals," the review indicates.
Analysts from the World Bank observe that there was a notable decrease in the export of non-precious metals (down by 39%) and machinery and equipment (down by 9.4%), although this was somewhat balanced by an increase in the export of ore (up by 21%) and ready-made food products (up by 10.5%).
"In October, excluding the re-exports of precious metals and stones, exports saw a slight decrease of 0.5%, while imports experienced a marginal increase of 0.5%," the review states.
Furthermore, it is highlighted that total exports and imports have diminished by 44.7% and 31.2% respectively since the start of the year.
According to Armstat, the total turnover of Armenia's foreign and mutual trade in October reached $1.94 billion, reflecting a 16% decrease compared to October 2024. Exports in September were valued at $744.4 million, while imports totaled $1.19 billion.-0-
