Economic activity in Armenia to accelerate in H2 – EDB

YEREVAN, June 2. /ARKA/. Economic activity indicators in Armenia will accelerate growth in the second half of the year as positive dynamics in industry recover, according to the weekly macro review of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB).
“Economic activity in Armenia increased by 4.4% y/y in January-April 2025. The growth was driven by the services (+9.9% y/y), trade (+5.2% y/y) and construction (+15.0% y/y) sectors. At the same time, in January-April 2025, the industrial sector continued to decline (-16.1% y/y), which is due to the exhaustion of the positive effect of increasing foreign trade in precious metals and their processing at the beginning of last year,” the review says.
It is noted that for the same reason, the negative dynamics of exports and imports remained in January-April (-60.4% y/y and -46.5% y/y, respectively).
“Despite this, the negative impact on economic activity was offset by growth in the services sector,” the authors of the review write. -0-
