Economic activity in Armenia falls 4.3% in July

Armenia’s economic activity index went 4.3 percentage points down in July 2016, compared with the same month a year earlier, the National Statistical Service reports.

YEREVAN, August 26. /ARKA/. Armenia’s economic activity index went 4.3 percentage points down in July 2016, compared with the same month a year earlier, the National Statistical Service reports.
The decline was due to the reduced output in industry, mainly in agriculture (3.8% to AMD 89.7 billion), construction (6.8% to AMD 33.6 billion) and trade turnover (1% to AMD 200.5 billion).
According to the statistical report, Armenia’s industrial output has grown 2.8% since the beginning of this year to AMD 117.7 billion in July and services have grown 4.1% to AMD 107 billion.
The country’s economic activity rose by 3% in Jan-July 2016, compared with the same period a year before.
In the government budget for 2016, GDP growth is projected at 2.2%. ($1 – AMD 474.68). --0----
