YEREVAN, July 20. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told a news conference today that the primary goal of his government's economic policy is to create an inclusive economic system, saying also that everyone should have the possibility of starting and running any type of economic activity.
‘Before the ‘velvet’ revolution there were types of economic activity that were the privilege of a limited number of people. The goal of creating an inclusive system is to ensure that these restrictions are no longer effective," he said.
At the same time, the prime minister noted that this does not mean that people who are engaged in this or that type of economic activity will no longer be able to run a different business.
"In view of the fact that this problem has been resolved at the political level from the first day of my assumption of the post of prime minister, the government considers it necessary to monitor the implemented changes from time to time. If they proceed slowly or not at all, the government should think about interfering and using new tools, "Pashinyan said.
Pashinyan noted also that the government is not interested in complicating the process of reforms and wants to implement them without economic shocks. He stressed that changes are necessary to achieve economic growth.
"Any expert will say that in order to create a favorable investment environment, two conditions are necessary: an independent judicial system and the absence of corruption. We consistently implement this policy, which, of course, must be enshrined in legislative amendments, including the Tax Code. As part of this policy we must solve the political issue of supporting small and medium-sized businesses,” Pashinyan said. -0-
